The title of the Kirkus Review of GIRL FROM THE ASHES!

Dear Reader,

We are getting closer and closer to the release date of my newest middle grade novel, GIRL FROM THE ASHES, and reviews are already rolling in. Now, as an author, I honestly don’t read reviews that often. Once I write the book, it’s out of my hands and into yours. I am just always grateful when someone takes the time to read my work, especially when they enjoy it!

With that being said, I do read the Kirkus Reviews for my books. They recently reviewed GIRL FROM THE ASHES, and I am pleased to announce that it was lovely! You can read the entire review here, but my favorite line was this one:

Brown effectively incorporates information about Black history into her novel, which alternates between Carter John’s and Gianna’s third-person points of view. The story also sensitively explores relationships and the pain of being misunderstood.

Make sure you pick up GIRL FROM THE ASHES and read it for yourself! It releases July 7, 2026. You can purchase here or wherever books are sold.

Warmly,
India
