Dear Reader,
I recently received my hardcover copies of my newest novel, GIRL FROM THE ASHES, in the mail and unboxed them on camera! Even though I’ve already revealed the cover, they are so much more beautiful in person! I also explain more of what this book is about in the video above, and have typed it below if you’d prefer to read about it!

This novel follows the story of Carter John, a sixth grader who is having a bit of a hard time adjusting to middle school. Not only is he missing recess, but he’s grown taller, his voice has gotten much deeper over the summer, and he’s trying to get used to his new lanky limbs and the constant crack of his voice.

To make matters worse, he keeps finding himself in trouble for things he didn’t do or didn’t mean to do. A stark contrast from his best friend and teacher’s pet, Gianna.

When Carter John and Gianna team up on their classroom project, he is determined to make an A to prove to his teacher that he really is a good kid.
But the more they visit the local, public library to work on their project, the more they realize the library is haunted!
While THE FORGOTTEN GIRL focused on segregated cemeteries and THE GIRL IN THE LAKE focused on segregated swimming pools, GIRL FROM THE ASHES will be focusing on the history of segregated libraries.
More to come on the inspiration behind this novel, my writing process, and so much more! Make sure you’re signed up for my newsletter so you can get these blog posts delivered straight to your inbox! In the meantime, make sure you pre-order GIRL FROM THE ASHES here.
With love,
India
